Community development in a constantly changing environment

In the workshop, we will review the foundational elements

in community building, and how they relate to emergencies.

I will share from my experience in the humanitarian field

and discuss the responses that can be developed with the

community, which will be based on principles of mental

first aid.

In the workshop, we will explore:

• How can we build a new narrative for the community?
• How can we restore a sense of control to the community?
• How do we create a sense of commitment for the community in times of uncertainty?

At the end of the session, we will collectively define our

role as leaders, and how we can use community tools to

evoke and develop a sense of belonging and meaning

among community members. Together we will lay the

groundwork for a resilient community that can overcome

emergencies and various changes together.
